Winter in the Country

The snowy winter is giving us newbies a true initiation. Our little country house sits on the top of a hill, which has been quite a challenge for our minivan to handle.  Three times so far, we’ve found ourselves getting out at the bottom of the hill to walk back to the house.  As cold as it’s been, I still don’t mind it.  The novelty will probably wear off one of these days, but I love watching my boys develop a thick skin in the cold. It’s making them hardy.

We received between 5-7 inches of snow last night—-a beautiful pure white blanket covering our surroundings.  Given where we live, it’s something we have to account for even more than when we lived in the city.  This was the scene earlier today as hubby cleared the gravel road of snow so we could make it to Mass.

Thankfully, we made it to a 12:45 p.m. Mass.

If we can make it through this tough season, we will have accomplished a lot.  So far, so good…
